Abstract

A method of providing a finishing pattern on a workpiece by a laser apparatus comprises providing a pulsed laser source, generating an output laser beam, a control unit for controlling the laser source and moving means for the laser beam. The method includes providing command instructions for operating the laser apparatus to scribe a predetermined finishing pattern on a workpiece and operating the laser source and the moving means to generate output laser beam for scribing lines of the predetermined finishing pattern on the workpiece according to the command instructions. The step of operating the laser source comprises at least one operating mode wherein the energy per unit surface delivered by the laser beam is variable, by changing the scanning speed of the laser beam and wherein the output power of the laser source and/or the duty cycle are maintained at a constant value.
