Abstract

A low-pH, aqueous skin care composition, comprising: a) 0.1 to 10% of a hydroxycinnamic acid (HCA); and b) 0.1% to 5% of a hydrotrope selected from the group consisting of: phenolic acid, derivatives of phenolic acid, phenolic alcohol, derivatives of phenolic alcohol, and mixtures thereof; wherein the hydrotrope has a pKA less than the formula pH; and wherein the hydrotrope has the partition coefficient (logP) of less than 3.0; c) water, and wherein the pH of the composition is less than 5.0.
