Abstract

The CPUobtains a three-dimensional imagethat is a captured image of an organ of a subject and obtains a plurality of ultrasound tomographic imagesthat are images of the organ successively captured at different positions. The CPUidentifies, for each ultrasound tomographic imageamong the plurality of ultrasound tomographic images, a CT tomographic imagecorresponding to a cross section the same as a cross section to which the ultrasound tomographic imagecorresponds, among a plurality of CT tomographic imagesthat constitute the three-dimensional image, and associates position information indicating a position corresponding to the identified CT tomographic imagewith the ultrasound tomographic imageamong the plurality of ultrasound tomographic images. The CPUgenerates a three-dimensional ultrasound imagefrom the plurality of ultrasound tomographic imageson the basis of the position information.
