Abstract
Systems and methods including one or more processors and one or more non-transitory storage devices storing computing instructions configured to run on the one or more processors and perform acts of receiving a unique identifier from a user, wherein the unique identifier is associated with a purchase of a physical media item; determining when the unique identifier is associated with an electronic media account; when the unique identifier is associated with the electronic media account: sending a verification message to an electronic communication address associated with the unique identifier to (a) inform the user of an availability of electronic media associated with the physical media item and (b) provide a verification token that, when transmitted to an electronic media provider, facilitates a modification of the electronic media account to grant access to the electronic media associated with the physical media item; and when the unique identifier is not associated with the electronic media account: storing a cookie on an electronic device of the user, the cookie comprising data verifying the purchase of the physical media; receiving a signal indicating that the user has associated the unique identifier with the electronic media account; and facilitating a detection of a presence of the cookie on the electronic device of the user to facilitate the modification of the electronic media account to grant access to the electronic media associated with the physical media item.
