Abstract
A protective case for electronic equipment has a decorative layer, a functional layer, and a magnetic component inserted into the functional layer. A coating applied to the functional layer retains the magnetic component during removal of an electronic device or piece of equipment from the case. The functional layer may have a thickness that is substantially equivalent to the thickness of the magnetic component. A coating applied to the decorative layer may provide water resistance and prevent fingerprints on the case. Methods of fabricating a protective case for electronic equipment include a spraying method as well as a hot press forming method.
