Abstract
An isolated bacterial strain ofsubsp.MFM 30-3 deposited under the DSMZ Accession No. DSM 34213 is provided; a probiotic composition including ansubsp.MFM 30-3 and optionally, one or more additional probiotic organisms that enhance the probiotic activity of thesubsp.MFM 30-3 is also provided; and a method for preventing or treating chronic kidney disease in a subject in need thereof including: administering to the subject a pharmaceutically effective amount of the probiotic composition including an isolated bacterial strain ofsubsp.MFM 30-3, and optionally, one or more additional probiotic organisms that enhance the probiotic activity of thesubsp.MFM 30-3 is further provided.
