Abstract

Disclosed is a mounting base () for attaching a portable electronic device () to a collar apparatus (). Mounting base () includes a frame () and a latch (). Latch () is moveable between a latched position and an unlatched position. Latch () includes an actuator () with a button () that may be depressed by a user to manually move latch () between the latched and unlatched positions. A portable electronic device () includes an insertion portion () that is received in a receiving aperture () in the frame (). Once the insertion portion () is inserted, the device () may be rotated manually to engage latch (). During rotation, a lock stub () on latch () engages a corresponding feature on insertion portion (), thereby preventing counter-rotation of device (). Additionally, one or more tabs () on frame () interfere with corresponding structure on insertion portion () to secure device () onto mounting base ().
