Abstract

A needle stick prevention device () includes a needle shield () for selectively covering a distal end of a needle (). A needle hub () is movably received within the needle shield (). The needle hub () includes a proximal end (), a distal end (), a needle () fixedly connected to the distal end of the needle hub (), and a plurality of ribs () or a cylinder () disposed between the proximal and distal ends. An actuation button movably received in a transverse opening of the needle shield () to engage the needle shield (), the needle hub () and a medical device. A spring () is disposed between the needle hub () and actuation member to automatically retract the needle () into the needle shield ().
