Abstract
An aerosol-generating system is provided, including: a reservoir holding an aerosol-generating substrate in condensed form; a housing including an air inlet, an air outlet, an airflow passage extending therebetween, and a chamber; a liquid-permeable heating element extending parallel to the passage, one side of the heating element in fluidic communication with the reservoir and an opposite side in fluidic communication with the chamber, the heating element to heat the substrate in condensed form to generate a vapour within the chamber; and a gas-permeable element extending generally parallel to the passage, one side of the gas-permeable element in fluidic communication with the chamber and an opposite side element in fluidic communication with the airflow passage, the gas-permeable element to allow transport of the vapour into the passage and to inhibit transport of the condensed form into the passage, and the vapour at least partially condensing into an aerosol within the passage.
