The lifting handle and the pair of handle reinforcing rods are arranged in a triangular configuration between the disc-shaped collars. When it is not in use, the dumbbell can be laid on and retained within a dumbbell storage tray having rests upon which the first and second stacks of weight plates and the first and opposite disc-shaped collars are seated.
