Abstract

plants produce fruits which are and remain green at maturity and/or over-maturity, and not olive green like existing evergreen varieties. The plants homozygously include in their genome a mutant allele of the cl gene encoding thestay-green (CaSGR) protein and a mutant allele of the wt gene encoding the phytoene synthase (PSY) protein. Further, parts and cells of the plants, in particular pepper fruits are and remain green at maturity and/or over-maturity. Moreover, methods for producing theplants and methods identify, detect and/or select the plants.
