Abstract
A method for warning a driver of a vehicle (), in particular a truck, in turn maneuvers includes the following steps: generating (S) an adaptive monitoring area () for the vehicle () based on at least a maximum lateral acceleration () of the vehicle () at a current longitudinal velocity () of the vehicle (); identifying (S) a vulnerable road user (VRU) () within the adaptive monitoring area (); determining (S, S) a driver's intention to turn () the vehicle (); determining S) whether there is a collision risk between the vehicle () and the VRU (); and outputting a warning signal (SW) based on the determined collision risk.
