A gateway device () relays voice communication between a communication terminal to be connected to a closed network () and a communication terminal to be connected to a LAN (). The gateway device () includes a closed network communicator () connected to the closed network (), a communication relay () to perform encapsulation or decapsulation of data for enabling voice communication between the closed network () and the LAN (), and a LAN communicator () connected to the LAN ().
