Abstract

Compounds as depicted below and structural analogues thereof for activating invariant natural killer T cells (iNKT) cells are provided. Such compounds may be used to activate iNKT cells and induce an increase in the production of one or more cytokines, such as IFNγ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 and TNFα. Activated iNKT cells may be used to selectively reduce the presence of or eliminate inflammatory senescent cells, such as senescent cells having an inflammatory secretome (SASP). Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds.
