An image pickup elementincludes a first electrode, a charge accumulation electrodethat is arranged apart from the first electrode, a photoelectric conversion unitthat contacts the first electrodeand is formed above the charge accumulation electrodevia an insulation layer, and a second electrodeformed on the photoelectric conversion unit.
