Abstract

A secondary battery having an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; an electrolyte; and an exterior body housing the electrode assembly and the electrolyte. The exterior body includes at least two step portions adjacent to each other and having top surfaces with different heights, and a stepped surface is formed between the top surface of the low step portion having a relatively low height and the top surface of the high step portion adjacent to the low step portion and having a relatively high height. The external terminal of the secondary battery is exposed on the end side surface of the step portion whose top surface has a height less than the highest height (H) among at least two step portions.
