Abstract

An objective optical system which forms an observation optical system consists of, in order from the object, a first lens group that has positive refractive power, a second lens group that has positive or negative refractive power, and a third lens group that has negative refractive power. Focusing is performed by moving the second lens group along an optical axis, the third lens group is configured to move in a direction that is perpendicular to the optical axis to correct image blur, and the following conditional expression is satisfied: 0.70≤f1/f12≤1.50, where f1 denotes a focal length of the first lens group, and f12 denotes a combined focal length of the first lens group and the second lens group.
