Abstract
An active material layer of a metal negative electrode includes: active material particles including a negative active material; and an additive having particles larger in average particle size than the active material particles. The metal negative electrode is immersed in an alkaline aqueous solution, and the additive is eluted into the alkaline aqueous solution. In a place where the additive is previously found, a space is defined in the active material layer.
