Abstract
Wearable assembly () comprises wearable article () and electronics module (). The wearable article () comprises an identification element such as a length of conductive material (). Identification information is encoded in an electrical property of the length of conductive material (). An electronics module () comprises a processor and two contacts () communicatively coupled to the processor. The processor processes signals received from the two contacts (). When the electronics module () is positioned on the wearable article such that the two contactsare brought into contact with the length of the conductive material () and electrically connected to one another via the length conductive material (), the processor is operable to measure an electrical property of the electrical connection formed between the two contacts () by the conductive material () so as to read the identification information.
