Abstract

A rotating electric machine includes a field element having a plurality of magnetic poles of which polarities alternate in a circumferential direction, and an armature including an armature winding of multiple phases and an armature core having a circular cylindrical shape. The armature core is provided integrally with the armature winding. The field element and the armature are provided to oppose each other in a radial direction. An armature holding member includes a circular cylindrical portion assembled on an inner side in the radial direction of the armature core. The armature core and the circular cylindrical portion are fitted and fixed to each other with a predetermined tightening margin. A regulating portion regulates displacement in the circumferential direction of the armature core by engagement in the circumferential direction, and is provided in portions of the armature core and the circular cylindrical portion that oppose each other in the radial direction.
