Abstract
To provide a thermal transfer sheet capable of preventing print omission from occurring on a transfer layer to be transferred and producing of a print having a good gloss. A back face layeris provided on one surface of the substrateand a transfer layeris provided on the other surface of the substrate, the transfer layerhas a single-layer or layered structure including a protective layer, the back face layer contains spherical particles, and when the surface of the back face layer is observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) at a magnification of 5000 times, the proportion of the total of the projected areas of the spherical particles is 1.8% or more and 20% or less based on the area of the entire observed surface.
