Abstract

Disclosed is a photoplethysmography (PPG) apparatus () for determining physiological changes, comprising: a light source to emit alight signal having a variable intensity dependent on a skin characteristic; first and second photodetectors () operable to detect a reflection of the light signal to provide a combined current signal; and a signal processing circuit operable to convert the current signal into a PPG signal for determining the physiological changes.
