Abstract

The present invention provides an indenocarbazole compound characterized by having hole transporting properties, being used as a constituent material of an organic electroluminescence device, and being represented by the following general formula (1), and an organic electroluminescence device having a pair of electrodes and at least one organic layer sandwiched therebetween is characterized in that the indenocarbazole compound is used as a constituent material of at least one organic layer. The indenocarbazole compound according to the present invention has (1) excellent hole transporting properties, (2) excellent electron blocking properties, (3) a stable thin film state, and excellent heat resistance. The organic electroluminescence device according to the present invention has a high light-emitting efficiency and high brightness.
