Abstract
An object detection apparatusis provided with: a transmission unitthat emits a radio wave as a transmission signal toward a targetobject; a reception unitthat receives, through receiving antennas, radio waves reflected by the object as reception signals, and that generates, for each reception signal received by the respective receiving antennas, using the reception signals, an intermediate frequency signal; and an arithmetic devicethat decides sampling times so as to suppress generation of a virtual image by a beam pattern obtained by synthesizing the respective intermediate frequency signals, and generates an intermediate frequency signal for target position detection by performing sampling on the intermediate frequency signals at the decided sampling times, and detects the target using the intermediate frequency signals for position detection.
