A compound of formula (1) R—W—X-AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-Y—Z—R, wherein AAis Phe; AAis Trp; AAis selected from Met, Leu and lie; AAis selected from Lys, Arg and Gln; AAis Arg; AAis Lys; AAis selected from Arg, Lys and His; AAis selected from Val, Ile, Leu and Met; and AAis Pro. The compound is useful in the treatment and/or care of the skin, hair, nails and/or mucous membranes, in particular for improving the barrier function of the skin, for energizing the skin and as an anti-aging agent.
