Abstract

In one embodiment, a technique for automatic classification and enforcement of low-bandwidth 20 MHz-only Internet of Things (IoT) devices is provided. An access point in communication with a plurality of devices may classify one or more client devices of the plurality as low-bandwidth or 20 MHz-only devices. The access point may allocate a subset of resource units (RUs) in a channel (e.g., a 20 MHz-wide channel) to the one or more client devices. The access point may then exchange data with the one or more client devices using the subset of RUs.
