Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition comprisingGG (LGG) (ATCC 53103) and/or a bioactive extract of LGG to increase the expression of filaggrin or profilaggrin, for use in treating skin or mucosa barrier dysfunctions or defects. The present invention also comprises the use of a composition comprisingGG (LGG) (ATCC 53103) and/or a bioactive extract of LGG to increase the expression of filaggrin or profilaggrin, for use in the manufacture of a medicament for use in treating skin barrier dysfunctions. Also disclosed is a use of a composition comprisingGG (LGG) (ATCC 53103) and/or a bioactive extract of LGG to increase the expression of filaggrin or profilaggrin, for use in the manufacture of a cosmetic composition for use in improving the appearance and/or texture of the skin. The present invention also comprises a method of treating skin barrier dysfunctions comprising administering a composition comprisingGG (LGG) and/or a bioactive extract of LGG to increase the expression of filaggrin or profilaggrin.
