Abstract

A method and system protect personally identifiable information stored in an onboard computing system of a vehicle to improve data security of drivers. The method and system are each configured to automatically trigger a deletion or encryption of personal data stored in the motor vehicle in response to an event or other information indicating that the vehicle is outside of the custody of the owner or some other loss of control event.
