Exemplary embodiments pertain to a switching device, to a network access point, to a system, to a process and to a computer program for a switching device. The switching device () for coupling a network () and a medical device () comprises a first interface () for the communication with the network () and a second interface () for the communication with the medical device (). The switching devicefurther comprises a control module () for controlling the first and second interfaces (). The control module () is configured to send data packets between the network () and the medical device () via the first and second interfaces () and to send location information of the switching device () to the medical device () at regular intervals. The control module () is configured to send the data packets according to a permanently predefined switching instruction.
