Abstract

A vehicle may wirelessly communicate with another vehicle via a physical channel (a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channel) that is robust and reliable under high mobility propagation conditions. The physical channel may be created by modifying an existing long-term evolution (LTE) physical channel, such as an LTE sidelink (SL) channel. For instance, the V2V physical channel may be created by increasing, by a particular factor, the subcarrier spacing of legacy LTE channels (e.g., from 15 kilohertz (kHz) to 30 kHz). Additionally, a symbol duration and a fast physical channel may each be reduced by Fourier transform (FFT) size for the V2V the same factor. Doing so may enable the V2V physical channel to be implemented without significant modifications to other aspects of the LTE standard.
