Abstract

Various embodiments for a stent delivery device or catheter system that includes a stent disposed between an inner shaft and an outer sheath. A housing is coupled to the inner shaft and outer sheath with a rotary reel disposed in the housing and configured for rotation with respect to the housing. A hypotube is disposed in the housing and fixed thereto with the inner shaft extending into the opening of the hypotube and the outer sheath enshrouding a portion of the hypotube. Rotation of the rotary reel in a first direction pulls the outer sheath over the hypotube along the generally circular path to retract the outer sheath from the stent. In some embodiments, a rapid deployment mechanism allows for retracdtion of the outer sheat at an increased rate.
