Abstract

A clamping device () for clamping an elongate article () is disclosed. The clamping device () includes a body () and a clamping arrangement () in the body (). The clamping arrangement () includes a clamping member () and an urging member () for urging the clamping member (B) into clamping engagement with the elongate article (). The body () has a reaction formation () along which the elongate article () can extend. The reaction formation () applies a reaction force to the elongate article () when so engaged by the clamping member (). The clamping device () further includes a carriage () on which the clamping member () is provided, and a release member () on the carriage () for releasing the clamping member () from engagement with the elongate article (). The release member () extends outwardly from the body ().
