Abstract
A battery-powered tool () may include a first tool-side electrical contact (), a battery detection switch (), a tool load (), and a load connection switching device (). The load connection switching device () may be configured to make an electrical connection between the first tool-side electrical contact () and the tool load () in response to a state change of the battery detection switch (). The tool () may define engagement positions with the battery (). In the first engagement position, a first battery-side electrical contact () is electrically coupled to a first tool-side electrical contact (), and the battery detection switch () is not physically engaged. In the second engagement position, the first battery-side electrical contact () is electrically coupled to the tool-side electrical contact (), and the battery detection switch () is physically engaged to cause a state change of the battery detection switch ().
