Abstract
A method for sensing the webbing extension of a seat belt () from a webbing retractor () of a vehicle includes sensing the position of the magnet () by means of the magnetic field sensor () by the control unit (). The control unit () detects when the magnet () has completed a full turn. The control unit () deposits the number of the full turns in a memory (). The control unit () determines the webbing extension by way of number of the full turns and the position of the magnet (). A webbing retractor () for a seat belt () has a magnet ().
