Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method for operating a terminal in a wireless communication system includes receiving configuration information regarding a random access channel (RACH) from a base station, and transmitting a RACH preamble based on the configuration information. The configuration information includes information indicating the number of RACH transmission occasions in a frequency axis. A terminal includes a processor configured to receive configuration information regarding a RACH from a base station, and transmit a RACH preamble according to the configuration information, wherein the configuration information includes information indicating the number of RACH transmission occasions in a frequency axis.
