Abstract
An airbag () for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises at least two opposite fabric layers () which delimit at least one chamber () adapted to be filled with gas and comprises at least two spacers () which, in the inflated state of the airbag (), delimit the distance of the fabric layers () from each other, wherein the spacers () are formed by threads which in a connecting area () are connected to a fabric layer (), extend in the direction of the opposite fabric layer () and in a further connecting area () are connected to the original or the opposite fabric layer (). A first connecting area () and a second connecting area () are arranged at the same fabric layer () in the area of a joint constriction () located between two bulges () in the inflated state of the airbag (), and a first spacer () connected to the first connecting area () and a second spacer () connected to the second connecting area () intersect in the area of the constriction () in the interior of the chamber () in a side view.
