Abstract
A medical imaging apparatus () and method for imaging a light-sensitive object (), such as tissue () of the eye (), displays the object () in spectral bands () of the visible light range () in which the object is sensitive and cannot be illuminated. The apparatus () has a camera () for capturing input images () in which a spectral signature () of the object is represented by an input set () of spectral bands (). The apparatus generates output images () in which the spectral signature () in the visible light range () is represented by an output set () of spectral bands (). Replacing at least one input-only spectral band () in the input set () by at least one output-only spectral band () in the output set () enables capture of input images () in spectral bands () where the object () has less sensitivity, such as in the non-visible light-range (), and display of the object () in spectral bands () where the object would be too sensitive for illumination ().
