Abstract
To allow a wide range of existing bicycles to be easily converted into electric power assisted bicycles, a retrofit electric machine for a bicycle includes: a housing () configured to be attached to a frame () of a bicycle (), an electric motor () attached to the housing (); an annular rotating plate () mounted on the housing () in a rotatable manner to be centered around a rotational center line of a crankshaft () for a pedal of the bicycle (), and connected to the electric motor () in a torque transmitting relationship; and a connecting member () including a first connecting portion () connected to the crankshaft () with a shape fit so as to rotate integrally with the crankshaft (), and a connecting pin () secured to the rotating plate ().
