Abstract
The invention relates to a motor vehicle component, in particular a B pillar and similar shaped components. The motor vehicle componenthas a shaped, in particular hot-formed or cold-formed, base memberof sheet steel. The base memberhas a surface portionwhich is provided with holes. According to the invention, the surface portionhas a tensile strength Rm greater than or equal to (≥) 1250 MPa. A hole patternwhich comprises at least three holesforms a deformation influence zonein the surface portion. The surface portion of the holesin the surface portionis between 7% and 60% and the holeshave a diameter d of up to 30p mm.
