Abstract

A gas powered tool () comprising a housing () and a soldering tool element () releasably coupled to the housing (). A latching element () pivotally mounted on a pivot pin () in the housing () is retained in a non-latching state (FIG.) by an abutment element () which is urgeable into the housing () by the soldering tool element () when the soldering tool element () is coupled to the housing (). The latching element () is spring biased in the direction of the arrow E from the non-latching state to a latching state (FIG.) for latching a switching element () in a first state to in turn retain an isolating valve (), which supplies fuel gas from a reservoir () in the housing () to the soldering tool element (), in the isolating state. On decoupling of the soldering tool element () from the housing (), the abutment element () is spring urged outwardly and disengages the latching element (). The latching element () pivots about the pivot pin from the non-latching state to the latching state engaging the switching element () in the first state, thereby retaining the isolating valve () in the isolating state isolating the soldering tool element () from the fuel gas in the fuel gas reservoir () in the housing ().
