Abstract
An assembly () for a wind turbine () includes a housing () having a first bearing () and a second bearing (). A shaft () extends axially within the housing () and is supported by the first bearing () and the second bearing () for rotation relative to the housing (). A radially outer portion of the shaft () includes at least one shaft engagement formation () positioned between the first bearing () and the second bearing (). A retention mechanism () is moveable axially between: an engaged position in which it can engage the shaft engagement formation (), such that rotation of the shaft () is constrained; and a disengaged position in which the retention mechanism () cannot engage the shaft engagement formation (), thereby allowing rotation of the shaft (). Additionally, a method of operating such an assembly.
