Abstract

A brake cylinder includes a locking device for mechanical brake force locking, in particular for rail vehicles, and a service brake piston which can be axially moved inside a housing, which can be moved by applying a pressure medium thereto, and which is coupled to a piston tube, said piston tube being provided with a non-self-locking thread which is engaged with a threaded nut which is rotatably mounted in the housing, and the locking device cooperating with toothing of the threaded nut. The brake cylinder is designed such that the locking device comprises one or more pawl(s), a control piston, an emergency release tappet, and a locking element of the emergency release tappet.
