Abstract
A booster explosive () comprises a canister bodywithin which is a cap well () having disposed therein a detonator (). A protective sleeve () encloses the cap well () except for that portion of the cap well, the active portion (), which encloses the explosive end section () of detonator (). The protective sleeve serves to attenuate the force of shock waves from nearby prior explosions acting on the detonator (). An annular air space () may be provided between protective sleeve () and cap well () to further attenuate the force of such shock waves. Attenuation of the shock waves reduces the likelihood of damage to detonators () by prior nearby explosions.
