Abstract

A liquid crystal projector includes a red liquid crystal panel, a green liquid crystal panel, a blue liquid crystal panel, a green liquid crystal panel, an optical shift element configured to shift an emission optical path of a synthesized image of each liquid crystal panel, and a control circuit configured to control these. The control circuit controls the optical shift element to set a projection position to a projection position (A) in a subframe fand to a projection position (B) in a subframe f. The control circuit causes a resolution of the liquid crystal panel expressed in the subframes fand fto be lower than the resolution of the liquid crystal panel expressed in the subframes fand f
