Abstract

A brush head () and a method () for manufacturing a brush head. The method () includes stamping () a plurality of openings () into a strip or roll of backing material (). A bristle tuft () is inserted into each of the openings in the backing material. A proximal end () of each bristle tuft is bonded to a proximal side () of the backing material to create a merged proximal end head portion (). Excess portions of the backing material are removed to form a plurality of carrier elements () about the openings from the backing material. The carrier elements form a plurality of merged tuft assemblies (). A platen () of a neck () is positioned in relation to the merged tuft assemblies. A matrix material () is injected around the platen and the merged tuft assemblies to at least partially encompass the platen and the carrier elements of the merged tuft assemblies.
