Abstract
A shearing device () having a blade () with at least one blade cutting edge () which is helically coiled, and rotatable, about an axis of rotation (R) of the blade (). The blade cutting edge () is assigned a counterpart blade cutting edge () of a counterpart blade (). The shearing movements, by which for example bristle filaments () of brushes () for machining can be cut to length, are generated by relative rotational movement of the at least one helically coiled blade cutting edge () with respect to the preferably static counterpart blade cutting edge () of the counterpart blade (). Since the blade () and the counterpart blade () can keep their spacing to one another constant during operation, there is a relatively low risk of injury during the use thereof.
