Abstract

A brake application device () for a disc brake () of commercial vehicles comprising an actuating spindle () with, axially of the actuating spindle (), a pressure plate () arranged on the actuating spindle (), and the pressure plate () having an annular groove () radially for receiving a boot (). A heat shield () is at least partially disposed between the pressure plate head () and the boot () at a spacing (X). An insulating layer () may be present between the heat shield () and the pressure plate head (). The heat shield () may be a metal ring () encapsulated in or coated with an elastomer (). The heat shield () may alternatively be formed of plastic or silicone.
