Abstract
Provided are an electronic device and a method for controlling same. In a method for controlling an electronic device, the strength of a signal transmitted by an external device and/or whether or not the electronic device is being used is confirmed during the execution of communication with the external device, information relating to the movement state of the external device is requested if the strength of the signal transmitted by the external device and/or whether or not the electronic device is being used satisfies a predetermined condition, authentication information for authenticating the external device is transmitted to the external device if the external device is determined to be moving on the basis of the information relating to the movement state of the external device, an ultrasonic signal is output on the basis of the authentication information, and an authentication result in response to the ultrasonic signal may be received from the external device.
