Abstract

An optical waveguide, an optical waveguideare formed on a substrateto be crossed with each other, modulator electrodesandare arranged along the optical waveguides, and antennas(i.e., square patch antennas having an approximately same shape) are arranged around four corners of the square shape. The modulator electrodeis energized from the antennaand the antenna, the modulator electrodeis energized from the antennaand the antenna, the modulator electrodeis energized from the antennaand the antenna, and the modulator electrodeis energized from the antennaand the antenna. The light wave propagating through the optical waveguideis modulated by an electric field of Y-direction, and the light wave propagating through the optical waveguideis modulated by an electric field of X-direction.
