Abstract

A dedicated network gateway device that is capable of bridging, switching or routing network traffic between traditional network and direct interconnect networks, comprising: a first set of one or more traditional network ports with a single link per port generally comprising one or more of SFP+, QSFP, and QSFP+ connectors, such ports being connected to switches or devices that form a traditional network; and a second set of one or more direct interconnect ports with a high number of links per port (two or more) generally comprising one or more of MXC, MTP, and MTO connectors, such ports being connected to a direct interconnect network.
